We've moved it up a day this week to give you time to prepare
for Mother's Day! This week we will be joined once again by Mr. Ken
Loren, representative for Kysela Importers. From the hours of 4:30-7:30
PM, we will be sampling four of his finest wines at the best prices.
Now's your chance to experience Mr. Loren's courteousness and professionalism
if you've missed him in the past!
Our
first wine is an excellent German white, Hahn Piesporter Michelsberg
Riesling-
Hähn Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling
Coming from the region around the village of Piesport in the Mosel
valley, the grapes for this wine were grown in slate soil, which is typical for
the Mosel area and provides a unique minerality. The harmonious climate, warm
summers and mild winters promote a long growing season providing fine fruit
with balancing acidity and low alcohol.
TASTINGNOTE:
This wine
appears fruit forward, light bodied and easy sipping with light effervecense.
It is a wonderful summer sipper or aperitif wine.
It will also accompany most light seafood, poultry and veal dishes.
The second wine we will be featuring is a nice white Spanish
wine, Placio De Bornos-
An
outstanding example of Sauvignon Blanc from the Reuda region. This
Spanish wine is taut, lithe and herbal with a keen stiletto of acidity that
vibrates through the center of the wine.
For our third wine, we will be tasting a fine French red, Chateau
de Segries Lirac-
Henri de Lanzac, the new proprietor of
Château de Ségriès, bought the property four and half years ago and has made
significant improvements in the wine quality. With the help of his cousin,
Christophe Delorme of Domaine de la Mordorée, the wines have become more
focused. Aside of the wines listed, Henri produces a particularly powerful
Tavel with loads of fruit and body. Rated an 87 by Robert
Parker Jr., this wine possesses tannin and structure, excellent purity,
abundant fruit, and a spicy, cherry-dominated personality.
Finally,
for our fourth wine, we will be sampling an excellent Argentine wine, Casa
de Tango Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon-
This reserve
wine is estate bottled and was produced with grapes from 45 year old vines that
contribute to its excellent aging, great intensity, richness and
concentration. It exhibits flavors of plum, spice and cherry, marked by
hints of tobacco and pepper.
As always, all of
the above listed wines will be offered at a 10% discount during the tasting
hours of 4:30-7:30 PM, this Friday, May 9th. If you've missed Mr. Loren's
tastings in the past, be sure not to pass him up this time!! If you're
looking for quality wines at reasonable prices, then look no further!!
They're right here!
Hope
to see you Friday!
(There
will be a separate beer tasting on Saturday, email to follow.)
Sincerely,
